Launch a terminal by pressing CTRL+ALT+T on your Ubuntu system. Then type below command to install Skype from snap packages.
$ sudo snap install skype --classic
This will take few seconds to complete the installation. Once the command finishes, you can start using Skype.

Install Skype with Debian Package
The official Skype website contains different packages for different distributions. As we want to install Skype on Ubuntu, we will download the .deb package.
To download the .deb package of Skype from the official website, use the following command:
$ wget https://repo.skype.com/latest/skypeforlinux-64.deb
The package downloaded via wget command will be saved to your Home dircetory.
To install the Skype .deb package, use the Dpkg command, as follows:
$ sudo dpkg -i skypeforlinux-64.deb
