VLC 2.1.0 final release available for download

After two Release Candidate versions, VLC 2.1.0 is finally here, bringing numerous improvements, new features and bugfixes, which make it one of the most powerful, reliable and stable media player applications on the Internet.

Among other features of VLC 2.1.0, we can mention partial support for Qt5.0, support for UPnP A/V subtitles, support for multiple UPnP resources on a single item, improved support for MCE remotes on Windows, AcoustID/Musicbrainz based fingerprinter, extended support for recording MKV and AVI, new video/audio filters, partial support for fragmented MP4, multiple video tracks support for Blu-Ray, and high10, high422 and high444 encoding support in h264.

To install VLC 2.1.0 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander or VLC 2.0.8 on Ubuntu 13.04, Ubuntu 12.10, Ubuntu 12.04, Linux Mint 15, Linux Mint 14, Linux Mint 13, do the following:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install vlc
